The acid rain washed the city's neon blood into the Gutter; home for those who ran out of options. The Gutter wasn't just a cliche metaphor, it was the city's most ruthless and dangerous district. Few chose to live there willingly; when your credits ran dry, there was nowhere else to go. When Danni Ashton went missing, her worried father came to you for help. Can you find her before it's too late?

Description

NEONnoir is a hybrid point-and-click adventure/visual novel game ported to the GameBoy Advance from the Amiga 1200.

The port was done in three weeks using the excellent Butanolibrary. This is my first time working on the GBA and it's been extremely fun!

Download the game and play it on an emulator like mGBAfor the best experience.

Your time is precious, here's a walkthrough!

How to play

The game is point-and-click and it has a very minimal inventory system. You won't need to try every object on every surface in order to advance. The game is entirely "mouse" driven. As such you will see 4 different types of pointers:

The regular pointer.

Will tell you something interesting when hovered over a part of the scene

Will use of otherwise engage what ever is under it

Leaves the current scene. A lot of times, the edges of the screen contain an exit

Controls

All actions are done with the A-button (Space on the keyboard).

Move the pointer with the D-Pad (Arrow keys on the keyboard)

Holding the Right Trigger (Shift) will make the pointer move slowly.

Open the menu to view inventory or save game with Start (Enter on the keyboard)

I absolutely love this gem!! Is so atmospheric. Is there any chance to be released as a physical copy? I would buy it in a heartbeat. Great work!!!!

Thank you! I’m glad you like it! I’m not saying it’s not possible, I would certainly love it, but it’s unfortunately unlikely. Best I got was making my own cart. It would be pretty dang sweet though.

Excellent music. Beautiful colors. Captivating atmosphere. And an interesting story of course. For me, it definitely made my expectations higher when it comes to gba visual novels of indie creators. The kind of game that you end up searching for in every new one. (Played it on a gba emulator for the psp and worked smoothly)

This is pretty neat, but I've been wondering: how complete is the GBA port compared to NEONnoir v1.2.2 on Amiga 1200?

Thanks! It’s the full game, though it lacks the Italian and German translations.
